A classic Victorian Black & White or a more modern colorful one? How would you like to create your front door number?

These two days mosaic workshop will give you the opportunity to create your own made door number to be placed outside or inside your home ! 

You will create a 20 cm diameter circle mosaic using the Direct technique, gluing your mosaic pieces directly into the wooden frame using tweezers and tile adhesive. 

A wide range of mosaic materials such as unglazed and glass tiles are to your disposition to help your creativity for creating your unique mosaic.
A plywood circle frame will be used as base for your number and you can vanish it as you please to be outside or inside.  

The workshop includes all mosaic materials & tools, and wooden frame.

Number fonts will be available to take inspiration from it.
 
Please note that the workshops will run only with a minimum of 2 people per session. 

Front Door Mosaic Number Workshop

Learn to create your unique front door number mosaic in a dynamic and creative environment  guided by an expert mosaicist!

All materials were laid out and ready to go and there was a great selection of tiles and colours to choose from. Everything was explained clearly and the time flew bye as we saw our work come together piece by piece.The best moment is right at the end, grouting done and you're cleaning the tiles, the whole thing comes to life and the colours pop!

There was plenty of colours of tiles (both ceramic and glass) to chose from, and the templates of the designs she prepared in advance made it very easy to make a start. Giulia is hugely knowledgable and experienced, a real expert in her field who is able to transmit her passion for the craft and the range of  techniques clearly and with great enthusiasm. 
Her 
beautiful studio is well-equipped with everything you need to make your own piece of mosaic.  Time really flew by as we drew out our designs, learned how to cut and arrange tiles and then mix concrete to assemble the final framed work. I particularly loved selecting the colours of beautiful tiles for my design, and seeing the 'big reveal' as the piece is refined and completed. Giulia is really encouraging and was on hand to help with the inevitable challenges that arise when learning new skills. 

I've always admired mosaic- from Roman to Victorian examples, so it was fascinating to hear about how they are made and gain insight into the skills of the mosaicist. I was extremely  proud to bring home my finished work and explain all the techniques i had learned in just one day.

Interesting to know the difference between indirect and direct techniques. Also, it was fun to see how working with glass squares for the mosaic was tricker than the mattes square ones.
