This half day workshop is a 'taste of mosaic' where you will learn how to use mosaic tools and material to create an unique piece of art.

Half Day Workshops are suitable for people who are complete beginners wanting try a taster session to learn the basics of mosaic making and have a fun day, but everyone is welcome to join this workshop and the content will be tailored
to suit people's ability levels.

Develop your creativity skill making a 10cm x 10 cm mosaic using the direct technique, where the tesserae is glued directly onto wooden support. 

The workshop includes all materials, tools and wooden frame.

**Workshop contents** : 

-  Introduction to the course and the technique;
-  Selection of the design and materials;
-  How to transfer/ draw an image to prepare the creation of a 
    mosaic
-  How to cut and shape tiles to create your own mosaic using 
    mosaic nippers;
-  How to create a mosaic using *Andamento* (layout) 
    technique;
-  Direct method : gluing your tesserae directly onto the 
    wooden support;
-  Complate and grout your mosaic.

The half day workshop was fantastic! Giulia gave us a brief introduction to mosaics and the tools and materials we could use. There was plenty of colours of tiles (both ceramic and glass) to chose from, and the templates of the designs she prepared in advance made it very easy to make a start. Having made a coaster in 4 hours as a complete beginner was very fulfiling. She was very helpful throughout, being hands-on when we had any difficulties, but otherwise gave us space to make the mosaic the way we wanted. I'd highly recommend it.

We loved our class at South London Mosaic. The equipment was good quality, the studio space was cute and cosy, the teacher was very experienced and helped us when needed. Our only complaint was that we felt rushed to finish our mosaic projects quickly. We booked onto a 4 hour class and after 2.5 hours the teacher made a few comments that made us feel like she wanted us to hurry up and leave. We would’ve preferred to stay the full 4 hours and perhaps have time to make a second mosaic project!
